Radon is a radioactive gas that comes from
the decay of radium in the soil and rocks all around us. Radon gas
is colorless, odorless, and invisible. It can be detected in a
home by using a continuous monitor, 48 hour test (meets EPA
requirements). Long term exposure to elevated radon levels has
been linked to an increased incidence of lung cancer.
When testing indicates that radon level in lowest primary living
area of the home is above 4.0 pCi/L, the E.P.A.
recommends that the home owner take appropriate corrective action.
