The term "FHA/VA Pest Inspection" is a fairly new one here in Central New York. The past couple of years have brought this requirement into any government backed real estate transaction.
The purpose for this inspection is to determine if there are any signs of wood destroying insects (WDI) present on a property.
If signs
are noted, our licensed pest inspectors are able to determine if the
presence is active. At times, these insects will visit for awhile, and
then move on. Other times, they set up house and nest in different areas
throughout the structure.
In either event, they can wreak havoc on the wood components of a house,
at times weakening structures and causing damage to areas that may not
be visible to the average homeowner.
This inspection, while required for government loans, is a good idea to have done even with other types of loans. It just makes good sense to have this information available prior to settlement, at which point, the problems, if they exist, become yours.
Rick Ciotti was born and raised in the Syracuse area and has been married for 29 years with 3 grown children.
After graduating from Central High School in 1971 he attended Onondaga Community College for 2 years, studying business.
Rick has had dual careers, one as a professional firefighter for the Syracuse Fire Department, the other as a service manager for AAA Exterminators – The Critter Ridders. His 24-year career in the pest control industry began in 1980, when he started as a pest control technician.
He worked hand in hand with the company owner to build AAA Exterminators into what is considered one of the premier locally owned pest control companies in the Syracuse area.
In December of 2000, Rick retired from the Syracuse
Fire Department as a lieutenant after 27 years of service. Upon his
retirement he also left AAA Exterminators to establish ABC Pest
Inspection Services, the only true service of it’s kind in the area.
ABC performs pest inspections for FHA / VA home purchases and relocation
companies. As the only full time pest inspection service company in the
Syracuse area, we dedicate our time exclusively to performing pest
inspections. This allows for immediate service along with a wealth of
experience and knowledge. Rick has been performing these types of
inspections for over 16 years.
